At the beginning of each big game,
the Blue Knights have a tradition of praying together as a team. The boys won't talk much about it because it is a special ritual exlusive to the players. As a soccer mom it is always a neat thing to watch.

The beginning whistle not only triggered play,
but a monstrous downpour that lasted the entire game.

The rain may have put a damper on my picture taking...
BUT the Blue Knights used it to their advantage.
They have always played well in the rain.
Here is a picture of James "taking one for the team."
He's the one parallel to the ground :)

The game was even more intense than any of us expected.
Both teams fought hard!
As the final whistle blew the entire Blue Knights sideline of fans (apprx. 100) ran onto the field. Some of us cried. Some of us cheered. ALL of us exchanged high-fives and bear hugs! The Blue Knights did it! They defeated Sparta 2-1 in the State Championship and became State Champions for the THIRD straight year! Quite the accomplishment in competition soccer! To the boys' dismay the BK parents started to form a tunnel...a tradition that was X-ed by our boys at around the age of 8. Once the rest of the BK fans joined us the tunnel covered most of the width of the field. The players humored us and ran through the tunnel creating an memorable moment for all. Good Times!
Each player was called up individually to receive their State Cup Medal.
Please pull out your lighters and sing with me...
"We are the champions my friends!
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end...."
Are you swaying back and forth?
James with his two biggest fans... Love you bud!
